The use of stories in individual and partnership coaching

»From time immemorial a man has felt the need to tell and listen to stories. It is the inner need of each and every one of us. Stories are there to make us forget our own story or to find ourselves in them. With them, other worlds, true or fictitious, invade our true world. They help us interpret our reality or get to know our own story. « /From the preface to How I Swam the Stone River by Marijan Ivanuša, 2008/

Learning through stories is the most natural way of learning. Stories touch our subconsciousness and encourage deeper thinking.

In the paper I shall examine some practical ways of working with stories in coaching. The participants will learn how to encourage their coachées to create their own stories of success related to the values they want to live. I shall also show how stories (based on Milton language) can be very easily composed for learning purposes and can be fun at the same time – in the creation process itself and when used in coaching.
