The future and potential of NLP: Neuro Lingusitic Psychology

NLP has been under steady development over the last 40 years. The emphasis during the introduction phase was put on the modelling and programming by the NLP inventors, which lead to the term Neuro-Lingustic- “Programming”. In the meantime, members of the International Association of NLP Institutes (IN) and the International Association of Coaching Institutes (ICI) refined NLP to applied “Psychology” through:

• consulting support of a distance study program in Psychology with the focus on NLP and Coaching at the Universidad Central de Nicaragua (UCN) 
• accompanying research of NLP-trainings carried out by lecturer and students of the UCN 
• appropriation of scientific psychological data through the UCN for IN and ICI members to be integrated into seminars and trainings

These enhancements towards applied Psychology define the Future and Potential of NLP.
Programming is associated with computers and robots.
Psychology is developped for the happiness, success and health of human beings.

The roots of Psychology go back thousands of years and go deep into the essence of the human’s nature, human condition and the humanity with several connections to philosophy, religion, spirituality and wisdom. The origin of the term “Psychology” comes from ancient Greek and describes the doctrine of soul in terms of vitality as the most valuable, fundamental and precious of a human. This vital force in the human organism is expressed through one’s thoughts, emotions, perception and action.

Empirical Psychology is doing scientific research on such areas in an objective, reliable and valid manner. Applied Psychology offers a wide field of scientific results for people to embrace a successful, happy and an intensive life lived to the full. Over the last 40 years, NLP has gathered a lot of knowledge on how people can live such a life. It’s time to structure the gathered knowledge in order to examine the findings in a scientific manner to be able to develop the practical application furthermore.

NLP (Neuro-Lingustic Psychology) can be understood as an applied psychology which offers concrete and practical applications for a successful and happy life lived to the full based on objective, reliable and valid facts.

The IN consults the Universidad Central de Nicaragua (UCN) accomplishing the international distance study program in Psychology with the focus on NLP and Coaching. Within the scope of Master (MA) theses and Doctoral (Dr./PhD) dissertations is research conducted directed to the effectiveness of NLP and Coaching. There are around 40 students enrolled at the UCN from countries around the world who are doing research on NLP and Coaching ( http://www.nlp-institutes.net/UCN-E.htm ). Some results of conducted research will be presented by UCN students live at the congress. Prof./UCN Karl Nielsen is the president of the IN. He is together with his wife, Prof./UCN Nandana Nielsen, responsible for the distance study program in psychology with a focus on NLP and Coaching at the UCN. He introduces NLP as applied psychology and the IN sealing opportunities for Neuro Lingustic Psychology through accompanying research by the UCN and an integration of applicable scientific and psychological data to NLP trainings.
